Photovoltaics
Photovoltaics is also called PV for short and describes the process for directly converting light energy into electrical energy. Solar cells serve as converters of forms of energy. Silicon, which largely makes up a solar cell, is specifically mixed with drilling and phosphorus atoms. This creates two electric fields. The silicon-drilling layer is positively charged (p) and the silicon-phosphorus layer is negatively charged (n). . The transition between the two layers is the so-called positive-negative transition (pn). |
